Staycations are on the rise as more people choose to explore closer to home than ever before.

One of the main reasons for this is as we all know holidays abroad are still out of our reach because of the travel restrictions. However, more people are starting to realise that staycations mean skipping the airport hassle, cutting your travel time and experiencing new parts of the country with far less impact on your stress levels and the environment.

It has been such a tough 15 months for everyone that hotels are pulling out all the stops. Not only to make sure your stay is a covid secure one but by giving their customers the best holiday experience. This has made roads busier which can add some stress. Towns and villages are also much busier but at least this means that money is being spent in the UK to help get the economy back on track.

If you want to avoid the crowds and catch a glimpse of the beautiful places the UK has to offer then take an imaginary tour to our favourite destinations for staycations. Some of them are more known than others – but be sure to get some tips that not many know about.

Cornwall (Tintagel)

Cornwall has the most beautiful natural beaches in the whole of the UK – and it’s not a secret. A heaven for surfers and hikers; the county of pasties, fudge and cream tea; a place that everyone falls in love with. If they manage to get there. Yes – visiting Cornwall proves to be more and more difficult: if not because of expensive or booked out accomodation, then because of the heavy traffic. For that reason, we advise avoiding such popular towns as Newquay and look around to the more rural part of the Cornish coast.

As an example, the breathtaking village of Tintagel is a real hidden gem. Tintagel Castle is situated right on the edge of a cliff, surrounded by daring suspension bridges and steep stairs for the visitors to explore the area.

English Riviera (Torquay)

Have you been to the South of France yet? If so, then you’ll be pleased to be able to get the feel fit again this Summer here – in England. The perfect destination for staycations – Torquay or “The English Riviera” is nutorious for a 22-mile stretch of seaside resorts, picturesque villages and rocky coves on the South Devon coast. It has its own climate system which is pleasantly mild and sunny, which resembles the Maddeteranian coast.

Some of the best attractions are Anstey’s cove beach and Kents Cavern prehistoric caves.

Lake District (Keswick)

Another well-known holiday destination for staycations – the wonderful Lake District. The area is quite different from any coastal locations and calls out for a different type of holiday. It is incredibly serene – each lake has its own character, the unique ancient rainforests create the magic of complete oneness with nature.

Whereas many choose to stay in or around the famous Lake Windermere – we suggest exploring further parts of Cumbria. Keswick village is an hour North of Windermere and is situated by Keswick lake. It offers canoeing, kayaking, motorboat services as well as options for other various water sports. In addition, it is right at the heart of the many beautiful hikes surrounding Bassenthwaite, Ullswater and Derwentwater lakes.

Our tip – if you travel by car, make sure you visit the surrounding passes, such as Kirkstone pass.

Norfolk

Norfolk might not be the first thing that comes to mind when you are thinking of a beach holiday, but think again. It is known as the Champagne coast and has some amazing beaches. Norfolk is probably most famous for the Norfolk Broads. Here you can take a day trip or go for a bit longer and explore the Broads from a boat.
